TEACHING

Ballet class description

In a classical ballet class led by Rena, participants will explore the foundational techniques and movements of ballet through a structured approach inspired by the Royal Academy of Dance style. Emphasising alignment, strength and flexibility, the class begins with a thorough warm-up at the barre, focusing on cardiovascular flow through positions and exercises designed to build balance, coordination, and muscle memory.

Participants will progress to centre work, where they apply learnt practice from barre while developing fluidity and precision. Across the floor, students will work on larger travelling steps to improve their spatial awareness and agility.

The class is designed to be flexible and adaptable for dancers of any age, creating a solid foundation for all levels of dancers. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this class will help you develop an appreciation for the beauty and discipline of ballet.

Contemporary technique class description

The technique class blends focus on physical efficiency and energy flow. Through structured warm-ups, students will explore body alignment, weight shifts, and gravity’s influence, fostering stability and fluidity.

In phrase work, students will tackle complex movement patterns that challenge coordination, balance, and spontaneity. As well as offering asymmetry, unpredictability, and multi-directional movement to train embodiment coordination, the class encourages releasing tension, finding momentum and connection to the floor.

Improvisation & tasking class description

Improvisation and creative exploration are authentic motivations to move our bodies for expression, allowing one to experiment with individual unique textures and respond to varying rhythms, space, and time. By investigating further beyond regular patterns in our body, we will discover new movement pathways and enhance our creative voice.

Ideal for dancers of all levels, this class does not require any dance experience. This class fosters creative freedom, inviting you to engage with an open mind in fresh and organic ways.
